Who would think that this sweet little face could belong to something that could cause so much worry and stress and frustration? Not I...

Once upon a time there lived two small little girls, twin sisters to be exact. Lets call them
Clara and
Josie. They had a fun life. Playing all day long with toys and their dog max, roaming where ere they wished to roam. Their mother gave them yummy snacks and lots of special treats like Reeses Pieces and Red Vines to eat, and even an occasional sip of...soda! What more could they possibly want or need? Thats right, nothing.
Or so their naive mother thought (lets just call her
Christin).
Now even though these girls were very little for their age, they did not think they were little. In fact they believed they were
BIG GIRLS. Too big to be confined to such things as cribs and play pens. HA they were no match for Clara and Josie!
Christin already knew of her daughters affinity for climbing and had even fantasied that one day they would be world renowned rock climbers, or something like that. She was so proud of her daughters ability. Especially since they were so small and unsuspecting.
However, all of this knowledge did not prepare her for what was to transpire one fateful night...
The girls awoke in the middle of the night - like unto many nights. This was not a big deal, Christin just waits it out and they usually cry for only a moment and go back to sleep. Aw the joys of sleep training! This night Crystal - I mean Christin - was surprised to hear the crying stop very suddenly... Followed by a loud
THUMP. "What could that be" she wondered. She got our of bed and opened her bedroom door. What did she see?
HER 14 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WALKING DOWN THE HALLWhat was she to do? How was she to proceed?
Whilst she was sitting there, still in shock, with her spider - monkey - daughter sitting on her lap, she contemplated what do do next. If she put her back in her crib she would just climb out again, and risk serious injury. Scary. If she held her and rocker her to sleep this would destroy the months of sleep training she had done to create such wonderful sleepers. Then, the worst happened. (Ok not the WORST, but almost) Her second daughter awoke and similar events transpired: Crying, crying ceasing, a loud
THUMP, daughter walking out of the bedroom.
WHAT IS GOING ON????Never in a
million years did she think that her daughters would learn to climb (or dare I say FALL) our of their cribs. Never in a
BILLION years did she think that they would simultaneously learn to do this on the same night. At three o clock in the morning!
So now you ask, what has she done about this? Currently the girls' room is cluttered with various pillows and blankets all around the base of the cribs. That is how it will be for the time being. She is trying to just discipline and nip the climbing thing in the bud. So every time she hears crying at night, she waits by the door until one (or both) try to climb out and then she goes in and sternly says NO NO! Plops them back down in bed. It eventually worked for the past few nights...
If this ends up not working, Walmart sells crib tents!
Moral of the story: Don't underestimate your monkey/children's abilities to do things. Even though they appear to be small, they think they are
BIG!
The end.
